Having debuted at the Detroit Auto Show this year, the 2016 Lincoln MKX is a luxury crossover SUV that is expected to make waves in the car market. Lincoln is making a conscious effort at reinventing themselves by increasing the level of luxury that they offer in their vehicles. This car will be a host to a wide range of improvements, starting from a redesigned exterior and extending down under its hood with modified engines that provide optimum power to performance ratio. This car will first release in the US, and then expand to other areas of the world.
2016 Lincoln MKX Exterior and Interior Design
Compared to today’s big boned MKX model, the 2016 Lincoln MKX will boast of a muscular body type that is sure to appeal to a large group of people. It will have a tapered roofline, long yet elegant fender arches and Lincoln’s patented split grille. Thin horizontal slats extend up to the similarly sophisticated LED headlights and make this car a wonder to lay eyes upon. MKX bears some resemblance to the next generation Ford Edge, but it is not quite noticeable at first glance. It will ride on humongous sized 21 inch wheels that give this muscular car an even more aggressive stance.
Most of the details about Interior of this vehicle have been kept under wraps, but Ford previously stated that they will increase the usage of knobs and buttons. The front seats have active motion technology that will allow it to be readjusted in 22 different ways. There is an ample amount of cabin space to allow comfortable seating arrangements and placement of luggage.
For the first time ever, 2016 Lincoln MKX will boast of having a high-end Revel audio system named simply as QLS or Quantum Logic Surround. MyLincoln mobile application will allow the users to lock and unlock their vehicles from a distance via a Smartphone. In addition, there is also a 12 sensor parking camera that assures hassle free parking, each and every time.
2016 Lincoln MKX Engine Specs
The 2016 Lincoln MKX will offer two engine options. The novelty engine being a 2.7 litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 unit that delivers a hefty horsepower of 330, and more than 370 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine is a 3.7 litre V6 engine, which is also found in the Ford Mustang. This engine can produce a horsepower of 300 and 280 lb-ft of torque. These engines will be paired with a 6-speed auto transmission system. This car will be available on offer in both front wheels drive for the standard model, and all-wheel drive as an option. There is also a hybrid version in production based on some rumours going around.
2016 Lincoln MKX Price and Release Date
There is no official word yet, but we presumably expect the 2016 Lincoln MKX to arrive in the US market around fall of 2015. Release date might be pushed back a little farther if the hybrid rumours indeed turn out to be true. The base price of this car is expected to be around $32,000 and go higher up for advanced trim models.
