The latest model will be receiving a significant refresh that includes an improved feature set, smother bodywork and a stronger engine option. As the Explorer celebrates more than 25 years, Ford will be introducing a new 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum model. The front and rear will receive new styling resulting in a more finely detailed and more finished aesthetic. The front end has been lifted and incorporates a more defined mesh grille that is accented by chunky LED lighting array. The headlights have been given their own small radiator grilles and in the back of the vehicle, there is a new sculpted spoiler along with integrated exhaust tips.

The previous model’s 2.0 liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine has been replaced. The 2016 Ford Explorer will receive its power via a 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine that will deliver a minimum of 270 horsepower and at least 300 pound per feet of torque. For the first time, the Explorer is able to be paired with four wheel drive. This engine option is available on the Limited, XLT and base models for an additional cost of $995. Outside of the extended cost, the mentioned trim level will mostly likely gain power from a 3.5 liter V-6 that will deliver 290 horsepower and be smartly mated with a six speed automatic transmission; and receive a choice of either intelligent four wheel drive (including four terrain modes) or front wheel drive.

The Platinum and Explorer Sport models will receive a 3.5 liter twin turbo V-6 EcoBoost engine that delivers 365 horsepower and 350 pound per feet of torque. For the 2016 Ford Explorer model, Ford has returned the chassis and provided increased variances between the vehicle’s levels of trim. All of the Explorers are equipped with a McPherson strut front suspension with an isolated sub frame, with independent multi-link setup. Stabilizer bars are also placed within the rear and the front.

The Explorer Sport will get its own faster steering gear as well as its own suspension hardware, in addition to a front strut tower brace as well as a stiffer stabilizer bar. There has been zero radical redesigns that apply to the interior, the vehicle has be given some noteworthy alterations. The pricing for the 2016 Ford Explorer is said to be priced at a base of $29,067. With the redesigns and changes made, the new Explorer will definitely give consumers more sport in their sport utility vehicle. The 2016 Ford Explorer is expected to arrive in dealership showrooms by the summer of 2015.
