Debuted at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the 2016 Ford Escape, as compared to the current model will be slightly redesigned. The redesigns will be focused on a handful of features within the cabin and the front fascia.
2016 Ford Escape Engine Specs
The new 2016 Ford Escape will gain its power from a 2.5 liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine that will deliver 168 horsepower and 170 pound per feet of torque. The most efficient engine option will be a four cylinder 1.6 liter engine with a turbocharger that will deliver an output of 178 horsepower and 184 pound per feet of torque. The engine option that will provide consumers with the maximum amount of power will be a 2.0 liter turbocharged option with a maximum output capability of 240 horsepower and 270 pound per feet of torque. All of the engine options will be paired with a six speed automatic transmission. The power will be sent on front wheels while higher trim levels will have the option of all wheel drive.
2016 Ford Escape Exterior and Interior Changes
The front grille will become larger that will result in lower intake. The 2016 Ford Escape model year vehicle will also feature LED taillights and headlights along with adaptive daytime lighting. The fog lights will become incorporated into the large front bumpers. Additional chrome detailing will add to the feel of luxury. As a method of increasing the fuel economy, the vehicle will be constructed with more lightweight materials that include aluminum. The use of aluminum, stream roofline, sleeker look and decreased weight, this model of the Escape is sure to have much great fuel efficiency that its predecessors. Consumers will be able to enhance their vehicle with available options that include the following: larger alloy wheels, xenon lights, or a roof rack.
The Escape’s interior will have room for five and receive new technological features. As is standard, the new vehicle will have a bountiful amount of security features that include: hill climb assist, traction control, ABS, side and front airbags, and more. Additionally the standard equipment will include the following: leather upholstery, six speaker sound system, satellite radio, a navigations system, dual zone climate control and rear view camera with parking assist.
Unfortunately, the rear seating is not as bountiful as what is offered by the vehicle’s competitors that include: the Toyota RAV4, the Subaru Forester, the Nissan Rogue, and the Honda CV-V. The cargo volume is quite competitive at 34.3 cubic feet behind the rear seat and 68.1 with it folded. The quality of the materials used within the interior of the cabin are of the best in its class and the 2016 version is said to be reprising premium Titanium, the entry level trim S and the volume selling SE.
2016 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
Shortly after its debut the 2016 Ford Escape will grace dealership showrooms. The base pricing of the vehicle will be in the neighborhood of $24,000 which is around the same pricing of the current model. Harsh industry critics believe that the price will remain unchanged because the vehicle is unchanged in any way, including its fuel economy. According to insiders and critics that have followed the vehicle along its journey contend that absolutely zero changes will be made to its EPA ratings and that a 2015 model version would be a better option for the money.
