2016 Ford C-Max Energi Hybrid

February 12, 2015

The 2016 Ford C-Max was teased in September of 2014 as a restyled five seating crossover alongside its larger seven passenger sibling, the Grand C-Max just before heading to the Paris Auto Show. The European version of the vehicle is offered in Energi hybrid pug-in and Hybrid configurations; but there are still no official specifications for the American versions. Consumers can expect the new C-ax to host a good bit of upgrades to its technology as well as a variety of visual changes when it makes its way to America.

2016 Ford C-Max Engine Specs

The 2016 Ford C-Max will receive their power from a new four cylinder 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine that is able to deliver an output of 120 horsepower. The current 1.0 three cylinder EcoBoost and 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine options will remain unaltered. Previous C-Max models that were offered within the United States had only the option of a hybrid power train. Insiders are waiting anxiously to see if that mode continues or if there will be additional options made available or is the powertrain will be upgraded as well.

2016 Ford C-Max Interior and Exterior Redesign

Although the tall stance of the vehicle is its most undesirable, industry insiders believe that it will not be changing with this latest version of the vehicle. The laughable 19 mile range of the all-electric Energi option has many wondering how the automaker will improve upon it and if this will be the model it will be achieved with.

The fascias are where the key revisions to the exterior can be found. In the front, consumers will find an inverted trapezoid grille, a more sleek and slim lined front end with chiseled headlamps. These revisions will be paired with rectangular fog lamps that are much bolder than before. Euro versions will also be available to buyers with bi-xenon headlights that will offer the American automaker’s corner following/auto correcting Adaptive Front Lighting system.

In the rear of the vehicle the taillights will feature a one piece design that is more refined in addition to a hands free “kick gesture” power lift gate that has been culled from the current model version of the Ford Escape sport utility vehicle. The vehicle will also receive a duo of new color choices that include Caribou and Red Rush along with new alloy wheels.

2016 Ford C-Max interior

The interior of the Euro-spec 2016 Ford C-Max there will be a revised center console that will be cleaner and host a lessened amount of switches. According to Ford the cabin will offer a much quieter ride due to more absorbent seals (around the rearview mirror and the tailgate) and thicker windows. Available to consumers will also be door-sill scuff plates and heated steering wheels.

2016 Ford C-Max Release Date and Competitor

With so few changes being made to the 2016 model year version, it is widely speculated that the pricing will be virtually unchanged from that of the current model year version. This will keep the C-Max panted directly within the middle of the pricing spectrum of its class, which includes the Volkswagen Passat, the Toyota Prius, the Ford Fusion and the Hyundai Sonata. Should industry chatter be accurate, we will know the definite pricing by the time the 2016 Ford C-Max arrives in dealership showrooms in the early side of the summer of 2015.
