In 2012 car manufacturer Ford, dangled the 2015 Ford Mondeo carrot in our faces, the family sedan was supposed to have been a few months after it was unveiled. However, the global recession as well as the changes in production delayed its arrival. The new model is quite impressive as it comes with the best technological features and modern styling that outranks the vehicle from other family cars available in the market. The new Mondeo is available as a sedan or wagon.
Three models will accompany the 2015 Ford Mondeo, there’ll be the Ambiente, the Trend and the Titanium trims. Each model will come with its own features. Some of the features found in lower trims may carry over to the higher trim.
2015 Ford Mondeo Under the Hood
The 2015 Ford Mondeo will have three fuel efficient engine options. There’s the 1.6 TDCi diesel engines that gives off 94 gallons per kilometer. It has a combined fuel rating of 78 miles per gallon, according to Ford. The second engine is the 1.0 liter EcoBoost petrol engine. The other engines are a 1.5 liter EcoBoost and the 2.0 liter TDCi. Each engine should generate above average performance. Producing between 132 and 177 kilowatts and torque of between 345Nm and 400Nm. Output of the engines fares well compared to its predecessor as it generates more kilowatts and torque.
All models of the 2015 Ford Mondeo will have different engines under the hood. The engines will be paired to a 6 speed transmission that is automatic. The diesel engine will be on offer for all three models. It will be matched to a 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The diesel engine is the most fuel efficient engine as it has the lowest consumption rating compared to the petrol engines. Diesel is rated at 5.1 – 5.3 liters per 100km and the petrol engines have a rating of 8.2 – 8.5 liters per 100km.
2015 Ford Mondeo Changes in Design
The interior and exterior changes that the 2015 Ford Mondeo will have aren’t known as yet, more information is expected as the release date gets closer. However, the wheelbase remains the same and the 2015 Mondeo is shorter. Its exterior styling is modern and reads like a coupe. This style design gives the car an elegant look that was missing in the previous model. The interior has a lot more room. The space capacity goes up against the Mercedes S-Class. A quiet ride equals a comfortable ride, the new Mondeo has a developed sound insulation that blocks out all wind and engine sound no matter the speed travelled.
Features in the base model, the Ambiente, include alloy wheels that are 16 inches, the steering wheel and gear shift come covered with leather, seatbelts in the back seat are inflatable, electronic park brake, LED fog lamps, etc. The Trend has double exhausts, auto dimming rear view mirrors and folding mirrors, driver memory settings, etc. and the higher trim level has scuff plates, lane exiting warning, sports leather interior, running lights for during the day with LED, etc.
2015 Ford Mondeo Release Date and Price
It will finally go on sale in the first quarter of 2015 in Europe and Australia. In Northern America it is sold as the Ford Fusion. Ford hasn’t said much about how much the family sedan will cost. But it is expected to have a price tag that is close to the previous model, which sells for around $31,000 and $48,000.
